Hi,

I am facing an issue with the latest version of AppBuilder for Windows. Since the latest update, I have lost the ability to sync my app with my iOS devices using the USB connection. I can use the three finger refresh to update my app, but this consumes a lot of time.
I tried re-installing the Windows client but that did not seem to help.

Can somebody please verify this issue?

Regards

I also found that the syncing process with the cloud is much slower than before, and sometimes I save my work then do a three finger refresh and find out that the app is not updated with the latest changes. The refresh would work after a couple of retries.

Hello Nader,

Could you please provide some additional details about the issue? For example:
  • In which platform does it reproduce? Android, iOS or WP8?
  • What are the exact symptoms on the device after saving changes in the AppBuilder Windows client? Does the device refreshes the application or not? After closing and opening the app again, are the changes applied? Or neither of the aforementioned?
  • Could you check if the issue will reproduce with another AppBuilder project? For example, you can create new Blank (JavaScript) hybrid application and see if it will LiveSync with the connected device.
  • Could you please check if the issue will reproduce on another device? Different model from the same platform.

I am looking forward to your reply.

Hi Kaloyan,

I was able to solve the USB sync issue by simply restarting the iPad. I am still facing an issue where the sync does not always update my apps with the latest changes. I have tried it in multiple projects using more than one iOS device.

Hi Nader,

It is good to here that you were able to resolve the problem with the USB sync. Could you please give us more details about the other issue you have?
- First of all, do you observe this problem only on iOS devices and if so, what OS version?
- Does your app restart when you save your changes and you observe the problem or just nothing happens? Does closing and opening the app when the sync fails brings the new changes?

Hi Miroslav,

I noticed this issue on iOS devices running versions 7.1.2, 8.1.2 where the app restarts as expected but I do not see any changes. Closing the app sometimes works, but usually I have to save my changes multiple times to get them.

Hi Nader,

After rereading the thread I noticed that it is not clear to me what are the steps you use in your workflow when you observe the problem. Could you please describe them step by step starting from the build/deployment of the app to the problem?

It also would be very helpful if you send us your project as there are some problems that could occur, like the one described here. Also if we are able to reproduce the problem at our side we will be more capable of finding it source and resolving it.

All the best,

Hi Miroslav,

The steps that I use are pretty straight forward. I build & deploy my app to my iOS device (using Debug mode) and start the app. I then update my code while the device is connected via USB cable. The app restarts as expected but I cannot see the changes that I have made.

I tried using the workaround in the provided link but it did not solve my issue. I saw in the link that using jQuery might be an issue and I am currently using jQuery along with KendoUI.

Hello Nader,

The link I sent you describes a problem concerning Bower packages so the problem could appear if you installed jquery using Bower. If that is not the case, then the cause for the issue might be somewhere else. However, the information you provided is not enough for us to reproduce the problem. Could you please export your project and send it over so that we can use it for further analysis.
