I noticed that you recently added "live data" to the RadChart. But I still don't see a way to animate data transitions. I.e. if a scatter chart is databound to an ObservableCollection of data, I would want data updates in the collection to create smooth motion transitions of the data points in the scatter diagram.

It looks like this is possible with VisiFire: http://www.visifire.com/silverlight_bubble_point_charts_gallery.php

(Click on one of the images).

This should be also possible with Pie and other charts.

(Why do I ask for this feature? I am a human factors person (HCI) and we are interesting in studying animated data motion for time series data. Radical redraws (such as what happens now with the chart, is an attention loss mechanism, people cannot track small changes that are varying over time).

Besides, I think you already indicated that you are interested in doing this.

Hi Dr.YSG,

Unfortunately, the current version of RadChart does not support animations on data change events. We have plans to implement such behavior with a future version of the control.

Please, accept our apologies for this inconvenience.

All the best,

What is the timeline for this feature? Can we expect it in the final release of 2010 Q1?  I am writing a patient monitoring application and need to show smooth transitions on patient monitor waveform data.

Hello Marc Reynolds,

Unfortunately, this functionality will not make it for the official Q1 release. It will be considered when planning the tasks for the next official release but we can not commit a specific time frame for it.
