Hi-

Are there any known issues with the current VS extension over the past few weeks?

I launch Visual Studio 2013 and get the following message in the screen shot that I need to upgrade App Builder.

And then if I try to install - the App builder installer says all updates have been installed.

After that sequence I can no longer build anything within my Visual Studio Solution (see other screen shot with unspecifified error).

Then I also get another error while trying to save the iceproj file (see third screen shot).

My only solution is to completely uninstall the App Builder VS extension.

After I do so, I can build my other VS projects.  This leaves me with no AppBuilder in VS.

Thanks much,
Jon

Hello Jon,

I first want to apologize for the delayed response - since the issue is posted in our forums, its response time is not guaranteed. I would therefore recommend that you post such cases through the ticketing system as this way we can handle them in a shorter and guaranteed response time. In any case, I do hope that you were able to resolve the issue. Judging from the ticket submission date I believe you hit a temporary issue we were having with our infrastructure during the update.

If you haven't done so already, would you please try installing the latest version of AppBuilder on your machine again. This tutorial describes how to download the extension from the Telerik Platform portal but you can also use the Visual Studio extension manager. The installation should now work as expected and the latest version should resolve the WP8PackageIdentityName error as well.

If the installation succeeds but you still see an error with the WP8PackageIdentityName property do let us know so we can further investigate the case. Basically, the error comes from a failed validation of the Package Identity Name field value which you can manually update from the Windows Phone project properties of your AppBuilder project.

Let me know if the new installation helps and if you have any questions I can answer for you.
