Hi All,

We are currently in the process of purchasing the AJAX RadControls suite for 3 developers. My question is, how easy is it / how fast can one get up to speed on developing with the AJAX controls assuming the following:

1. Everyone in our team is completely new to AJAX and working with RadControls

2. we have been supporting an old solution that uses RadControls but all of the templates were built for us by a consultant

3. the solution we currently support is .Net 1.1 and we develop in VS2003

4. We will be building our new app on VS2005 and .Net 2.0

We need to get a fairly small searching and customer database management app built in a month. We have done the functional and tech specs and are ready to begin coding.

So my question is (finally) - Is it realistic to expect us to be able to get up to speed and build some telerik enabled pages inside a month?

Where would you suggest we start? I downloaded the 794 page manual from the telerik site and will read but obviously that is going to eat a bunch of time. Are there any other good quick resources to get us up and running quickly?

Appreciate any feedback even if it is just - "you're screwed man..." :)

Hello DC,

The AJAX courseware you have downloaded contains some basic information about most of the RadControls for ASP .NET AJAX suite. You can review only those part/s that are of your interest.

In addition to the courseware, I would strongly recommend you to review the documentation topics that our site provides. Every control's folder contains a "Getting started" article that will briefly guide you in building your first project using the relevant control. Other topics cover the basic as well as some more specific features of the different controls.

Finally you should also see the controls in real action by reviewing the online demo examples. Most of them are based on frequently used scenarios and will help you to quickly get into the controls logic and usage.

As to the exact time that you will need to build your application - I am not able to provide you with such estimate because it depends on the complexity of the project as well as on the experience of the development team that will work on it. However one thing is certain - you can count on the Telerik resources and support in helping you with the task.

I hope this helps,
