I have a ComboBox that utilizes LoadOnDemand. Everything works fine if the user types in their input, waits for the combo box to finish loading, then submits the page. But if the user changes their input before the comboBox has finished loading and then tries to submit the page, the following error appears:

RadComboBox: load on demand callback error. Press Enter for more information.

Then when you click OK, it redirects you to a page that says that you may need to use an ExternalCallBackPage. I have tried it with the ExternalCallBackPage and the same thing happens. Is there any way around this issue?

Hi David,

Are you using RadComboBox "Classic"? You have posted in the forum for RadComboBox for ASP.NET Ajax which is a different version of the control.

As for the error - can you reproduce it in our online demos?

Sorry for posting in the wrong forum.  Yes I can reproduce the error on the live demos.  If you type something really fast and delete it before the load on demand finishes and then type some more the same error will be produced.

Any help on this issue would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks.

Hi David,

I failed to reproduce the error no matter how fast I was typing and hitting the back button to delete the text. Which browser are you testing with?

Both Firefox and IE.  I reproduced the error about 7 times.  You have to be fast.  Your box loads faster than ours because we have thousands of entries and it is easier to produce on our site because of that, thus being the reason you have to type so fast to reproduce it here.  I have a screen shot of the error on your site if you would like me to send it to you.

Hello David,

I have tested in FF3 to no avail no matter how fast I type. Anyway we cannot debug that problem unless we reproduce it in a predictable manner. Please let us know how many items does your combobox have so we can try testing with a similar number.

Also after you delete the text you have and type a little more you have to click outside the dropdown to get the error.  We have approximately 15, 000 and the items are being loaded from the database through code.

Hi David,

Following your instructions we managed to reproduce the issue and resolved it.

Please use the latest build of RadComboBox for ASP.NET that is attached to this post.

If you need the dev version, please open a support ticket and request it there. We will be glad to provide it.

Your Telerik points have been updated for reporting the bug.

All the best,
