Hello Telerik and everyone,

this is Jan Sichula from Slovak Republic. We love your products but are somewhat unrestful because of what is going on with RCforSL 1.0. We are still doing a serious development work with RCforSL 1.0 and plan to do so for foreseeable future. I want to double check about the future support for this suite as this is of highest importance for us. Here are particular issues.

  • What is the roadmap for future updates to RCforSL 1.0? I would still love to see the ability not to emit the Silverlight.js that I made a plea for many months ago. This is becoming more and more important as Microsoft is continually updating this helper file.
  • Where is the RCforSL 1.0 installation package?
  • Where is the RCforSL 1.0 support forum? I cannot find it anymore. Instead, there is now only forum for 2.0 CTP.

RadMediaPlayer 1.0 breaks with SL 2.0 Beta 2 (I tested with Firefox 2.x). I know that Microsoft is promising 100% backwards compatibility with SL 1.0 but something is simply not working as it should. Kindly please have a look at it. It really needs to be resolved for SL 2.0 release day.

I eagerly look forward to hear from you soon. Have a nice weekend.

Hello JanSichulaJr,

Thanks for your question.

Actually, we suspended the development of Silverlight 1.0 controls ever since Microsoft relocated all their efforts in evolving and advancing the new Silverlight 2.0 platform. Strictly following the MS release schedule, we started preparing a brand new controls for Silverlight 2. To cut the long story short, the Silverlight 2 platform allowed us to prepare real "Line Of Business" controls that can help customers achieve rich UI and fast performance with their applications. Such controls were impossible to be developed using the old Silverlight 1.0 edition.

What will happen happen with our controls for Silverlight 1.0?
We will update the suite every time there are some breaking changes in the official Silverlight Plug-in so that the controls can work with the latest plug-in. However, we will not include any new features in the controls for Silverlight 1.0.

Regards,
Nick
