Setting a higher standard in .NET toolset performance
NEWTON, MA, April 15, 2008 – Telerik, a leading vendor of developer tools and components for .NET, is excited to announce the landmark release of its Q1 2008 RadControls for ASP.NET AJAX and WinForms, and Telerik Reporting. The new release represents a final touch in Telerik’s goal to offer a comprehensive and mature toolset of next-generation web components by leveraging the Microsoft ASP.NET AJAX framework.
RadControls for ASP.NET AJAX (formerly codenamed “Prometheus”) was officially introduced in April 2007, representing the future direction of Telerik’s web development tools. This innovative set of components is built entirely on top of ASP.NET AJAX, utilizing its familiar programming model and leveraging completely the power and flexibility of the new Microsoft web framework. Now featuring over 20 controls for use in ASP.NET 2.0/3.5, RadControls is the most comprehensive toolset for building richer and more responsive web applications.
Major highlights of the suite are:
The Q1 2008 release brings great new additions to RadControls for ASP.NET AJAX. The UI suite features three new navigational controls: RadTabStrip, RadPanelBar, and RadToolBar. Unified by the ASP.NET AJAX framework, the new products deliver rich client-side APIs and efficient rendering mechanisms for minimal HTML output, resulting in substantial performance boosts. In addition, Q1 introduces another new control, RadFormDecorator, which allows for beautiful styling of the basic controls – buttons, checkboxes, and radiobuttons – in any application without the need to generate any additional HTML elements.

With the new release, Telerik also continues its dedication to providing a visually aesthetic, yet superior in performance line for desktop components. The latest version of RadControls for WinForms suite includes great new controls and applications, as well as component updates and performance improvements.
The latest additions to the RadControls for WinForms suite include a unique RadCarousel navigation control, and a RadForm counterpart of the regular Windows Form available in .NET. The new release also features major improvements in the flagship RadGridView component, which have contributed to dramatic performance gains. Completely redesigned, RadGridView Q1 2008 offers a new level of function and usability to fully suit demanding business applications. The latest release also introduces a HelpDesk Application and a CAB Application, both showcasing the interoperability of Telerik RadControls.
Q1 2008 is also a milestone in Telerik’s quest for an intuitive and easy-to-use tool for report creation, styling, and data presentation. The latest version of Telerik Reporting includes a brand new designer as well as great new features and capabilities.
With the new release, Telerik Reporting becomes the industry’s first reporting tool to introduce a full WYSIWYG, graph-paper-like design surface integrated in Visual Studio that displays the actual report layout as it will be printed on paper. For more precise positioning, aligning, and sizing, the new report designer comes with smart snapping and alignment to grids and objects, zoom, rotation, and a fast navigation map. This new feature greatly simplifies the development process, and further empowers developers to efficiently create and style reports.
