Telerik Releases RadControls for Silverlight and WPF Q2 2010 Beta

Telerik, a leading vendor of development tools and user interface components for the Microsoft .NET Framework, announced the Q2 2010 Beta Release of RadControls for Silverlight and RadControls for WPF. Among the highlights are: Assembly Minifier for Silverlight, which reduces the size of the RadControls assemblies; five new identical controls for both suites among which DataFilter, DataPager and BusyIndicator.

“By reducing the size of the RadControls Assemblies, the Assembly Minifier ultimately reduces the size of the XAP file of the application,” said Nikolay Atanassov, Telerik Silverlight teams Unit Manager. “The end-users will immediately feel the difference too, because the loading time of your Silverlight application will decrease significantly.”

The Telerik Assembly Minifier allows developers to choose a list of controls to be used in their Silverlight application, analyzes the dependencies between them and then produces a new set of optimized assemblies. The new assemblies contain only the selected controls and the resources used by them. Using the Assembly Minifier Tool, developers can keep the downloaded size of their application to the bare minimum. Currently the tool supports only Telerik RadControls for Silverlight and is in Beta stage.

The preview of the upcoming Q2 release also features 5 new additions to the RadControls for Silverlight and RadControls for WPF suites: RadDataFilter, RadDataPager, RadBusyIndicator, RadDateTimePicker and an improved RadTreeListView.
