We have two builds currently running - a CI Build and a Daily Build.  the Daily Build was failing for a couple of days (now successful) - the build breaker widget finds the last broken one and then constrains the search for the last successful one to the max finish time of the broken one it found (thus not enabling it to find the new successful one) - it then finds the first broken build since that last successful one.  I have attached a screenshot for you to see - if you look at the last partially succeeded one it uses that as the max time to find the last successful and then refinds the partially successful one as the last broken - it all seems wierd - since both builds are successful now - we want the build breaker widget to show build not broken!

    Hi Bryan,

The behavior you're seeing is actually by design.  The idea of the build breaker widget was to always show who the last person to break the build was, even if the build is not broken anymore.  That person's picture will be displayed until the next person breaks the build.

That being said, I understand what you're saying and why you would like to see the build breaker widget show that the build is not broken.  Our teams internally like the way it currently functions, but I'm sure there's many people out there who would like it to work the way you describe.  I have added a work item to our backlog and we will look into adding this to a future version.

    Regards,
    Joel

Thanks for the info - one of the things that threw me off was that in the configuration it includes a build not broken jpg which if I understand the behavior right will only show when the build has never, ever been broken.

    Hi Bryan,

You are understanding correctly.  The way the dashboard currently works, the "build not broken" image will only display if the build has never been broken, which admittedly, is kind of confusing.  The image would be much more useful is the widget was changed to function as you suggested in your earlier post.

    Thanks,
    Joel

    Hi Joel,

For me it would be great if it actually showed number of build since last broken one. Kind of like some workplaces has days without accidents. It also makes sense to me to only have the person's image displayed until the build is fixed.

    Just my 2 cents... :-)

    Hi Mikko,

Thanks for the feedback.  Displaying the number of builds since the last broken build is a great idea.  I have added it to our backlog and we will consider it for a future release.

    Thanks,
    Joel
