I dislike asking simple questions, but ..

When using the RadDateInput contro, where do you find the RadCalendarID & RangeValidation properties? (latest Q1-2007), thanks, drew..

not sure why this fixed the problem, but i dragged a Q4-2006 instance onto my form, replacing the dll's, then erased it, then re-dragged the same Q1-2007 RadDateInput control and relaced the dll's.. and voila, there were the properties! odd?

to continue the monologue Ü.. i couldn't leave this alone as it is troubling to get the wrong version of the control when i know i did nothing incorrectly. This issue repeats itself each time i start a test project. Only when i drop in Q4, then Q1 again does the control correct itself somehow.
I wiped Q4 off my machine, started a new project with an entirely new name to avoid any latent caches somewhere.. and still .. the wrong version appears, and again without the two mentioned properties. And the SmartTag contains both date format and display date format, unlike the image from p.116 in the Falafel tutorial.

Can anyone toss me a tidbit to help ensure i get the correct control? It is indeed pointing to the installation folder, which incidentally is non-standard, found on my D: drive.

    thanks, drew..

Even the chm for RadInput has uncertainty about this, as the apparent connection between DateInput and Calendar shown at "Integration of Telerik RadInput with Telerik RadCalendar" leads to unknown pages. Was this functionality ripped out of the most recent builds?

..i promise to stop the monologue now: i grabbed an older version (1.5) of the dll and dropped it into the relevant bin, and voila, the proper SmartTag and properties are found..  i will leave it there for now and continue working until i hear back on this. thanks, drew..

    Hi drew,

These properties were removed from the new major version of the RadInput control (RadCalendarID was part of an outdated implementation of a datepicker control that we stopped using once we introduced the integrated RadDatePicker and validation for the DateInput is performed only on blur now so the RangeValidation property was not functional any more). You can find the changes and backward compatibility guide for RadInput here. As for the Integration of Telerik RadInput and Telerik RadCalendar topic in the help files -- it is part of the same outdated datepicker implementation and it will be removed as it is irrelevant and confusing indeed (you can find examples of the integrated RadDatePicker control here).

well that explains it. Too bad i spent a few hours chasing the dragon on this one Ü.. perhaps the kind folks at Falafel should have been told this, or this issue caught in the review since the tutorial was released to coincide with the new versions? thanks, drew..

    Hi Drew,
The old references are now removed, example projects updated and some of the screen shots have been redone (the pdf/projects will be recompiled and made available asap).  Our apologies for the inconvenience.

How about a documentation refresh?  Tutorial still sends people looking for it.

FYI, I just downloaded the latest version of the ASP.NET suite, along with the tutorial for evaluation, and it looks as if the version that I just downloaded from your site does not include the updated documentation!

    Hello Paul,

I have double-checked the .chm files and the online documentation here and they seem to be properly updated. The RadControls tutorial should also be updated - can you please verify that by downloading a fresh copy of the requested resources? Let me know if I am missing something.

    Best regards,

Thanks for looking into this.   I believe that it is only the tutorial PDF that is amiss, and specifically the version that I downloaded from the trials page at http://www.telerik.com/client.net/my-licenses/my-free-trials.aspx.   I expanded the first section (RadControls for ASP.NET) and then clicked on the link for the 6th download RadControls_Tutorial.zip.

Unfortunately, this seems to be the natural entry point for someone like myself, who is evaluating the product!

    Thanks,

    Paul

    Hello Paul,

Thank you for pointing this - we will update the files in the accounts first thing next week. You can download the latest version of the PDF from the online documentation section here. Your points have updated for your report.
