Not answered Beta Live Demos

    I just installed the new beta for Q1 2010.  It installed ok, but the live demos will not start.  If I click the icon for the demos, it throws an application error in Windows.  This error is in the StartExamples.exe and it states System.UnauthorizedAccess.

    WIth that in mind, I decided to run it as admin.  When I did that, the development server started up, but then I got an error in my browser:  Unrecognized configuration section system.web.extensions (web.config line 82).

    I am running Windows 7 (x64)...a clean install with Visual Studio 2010 RC.  I do have the Q3-2009 installed as well and a few minor controls for use with visual studio, but that is it.

    Any thoughts?

    Hi,

    Thanks for the information. We have tested the RadControls installation on a Win 7 Enterprise x64 machine with only VS 2010 RC installed (no other VS distributions). The StartExamples.exe application works without elevation to administrator and correctly starts the VS development server with the controls examples. We tested using the default UAC settings.

    I am sending you a debug version of the StartExamples tool. Please extract it to C:\Program Files (x86)\Telerik\RadControls ...\Live Demos\ folder and overwrite the existing file. After that try running the demos and note the stack trace from the error details (System.UnauthorizedAccess) if you see the error again.

    If the demos web site starts but you see the error "Unrecognized configuration section system.web.extensions", check the version of the Telerik.Web.UI.dll file in the C:\Program Files (x86)\Telerik\RadControls ...\Live Demos\bin\ folder and make sure it ends with .40 (for ASP.NET 4.0). See attached screenshot for more details.

    Finally, you need to make sure that you have the latest service pack for the .NET 3.5 framework installed. The controls will not work if you have .NET 3.5 without SP1.

    Thanks for the information.  I redownloaded the installer and reinstalled from scratch and now it is working fine.  I had tried reinstalling before and got the same result, but the redownload seems to have corrected it.  Perhaps I had a bad download or something (or something change on my machine in the past day that fixed it, not sure).

    If it happens again, I certainly try what you have suggested!
