Telerik Hackathon

Thanks for joining us and congratulations to our winning teams

Code, Play, Conquer

App developer superheroes from across the globe descended on Telerik HQ in Sofia, Bulgaria for our first European hackathon: Telerik Hackathon 2014. Our Telerik Academy building was completely rebranded and prepared to host over 100 developers, designers and tech enthusiasts who worked for 48 hours straight to bring their app ideas to life using Telerik Platform.

After two days of high-stakes competition spread across three floors, teams submitted 30 apps for judging. Our criteria? Build a functional mobile app using Telerik Platform that showcased best-in-class user experience, originality and utility. After the first of two judging rounds—the technical review—13 apps were passed along for final consideration, a five-minute presentation and pitch. In the end, the judges picked the top three apps, each of which won a big cash prize:

The 52 application makes donations easy and painless. Each week—hence 52—users donate money that is pooled with the donations of others, then transferred to various charity foundations. Participants can donate as little as $1/1€. After voting on their favorite campaign each week, funds are donated to the winning organization.

Cool Apps

Amroo is an application for anyone who owns and cares about animals. It solves the biggest pet owner quandary: how to find someone to care for a pet while out of town for business or on holiday. Тhе application connects pet owners to people willing to care for their pet for a few days, thus creating a wonderful way to earn some money while also solving a common pet owner problem.

Sprint Social

Sprint Social enables users to challenge friends to timed running races—and compete fairly. Users can challenge Facebook friends to participate in a race that’s accurately measured using motion detection. A pedometer, accelerometer, gyroscope and compass make the app location tracking so accurate, it even works indoors.

Each participant also received a 1-year Telerik Platform Professional license. Congratulations to all our participants.
You certainly made it hard on our judges.
