Terms & Conditions

The Program
Telerik Windows 8 Virtual Accelerator program is a three-month accelerator for early stage startups focused on building Windows 8 apps. It offers mentorship, one week boot camp in Hong Kong (covered by Telerik), 3 months of virtual mentorship, US$30,000 investment in your company for approximately 4%-8% equity stake and eligibility for additional free perks and discounts. (Your receipt of any program benefits is subject to your acceptance of the terms which will accompany the program offer.)
Who is organizing the program?
The program is organized by Telerik – the creator of RadControls for Windows 8 and Steve Forte and Paul Orlando, two successful entrepreneurs and educators with a passion for startups and disruptive technology.
Deadlines for the program. How and where is the mentorship happening?
Applications will be accepted until March 15. Five shortlisted teams will be announced on April 1st on the program’s page. The judges will schedule online interviews with the shortlisted candidates in the period April 1st – April 10. The winner will be announced on April 15 on the program’s page.
Who can apply?
Early stage startups who believe in the future of Windows 8. Your team needs at least one technical founder and one non-technical co-founder. If you are selected for the accelerator, you will have to incorporate a company before the program starts unless you already have done so. The Telerik Windows 8 Virtual Accelerator program and community award contest are open to participants worldwide.
What does an app prototype mean?
Anything from a simple wireframe to a mockup will work just fine. Chances are, your idea will undergo serious changes.
What are the selection criteria?
We want our program to add value to your whole team. We are biased toward startups with a minimum of two and up to four people participating in the accelerator; strong technical, design and business skills; those who have made some progress on their concept, prototype or existing service; and those who show us they’re coachable and open-minded.
Do I need to be proficient in English?
You need to be fluent in English in order to be able to benefit from the program’s mentoring process.
Can I apply with more than one project?
No, your team should be focused only on one product at a time in the accelerator.
What about my intellectual property?
We won’t show your application to anyone outside of our internal selection team, unless you agree to participate in the community vote contest with your app idea. That being said, if you look around you’ll see that there probably are similar ideas in existence around the world. That’s ok, because execution is the hard part. Because we accept applications from anyone who wants to apply, we do not sign NDAs. Only disclose what you choose to if you’re not comfortable.
We’ve already worked on our startup for a while and have applied to another accelerator. Can we still apply?
Yes.
