If you aren’t familiar with Gartner’s Magic Quadrant for Integrated Software Quality Suites (ISQS), yet you are looking for a test automation solution or would simply like to stay in the know, you’re in luck because Gartner just released its 2014 report and we at Telerik are happy to make it available for you.

For a second year in a row Telerik was positioned in the “Visionary” quadrant of Gartner’s Magic Quadrant for Integrated Software Quality Suites. Gartner has noted, "Visionary vendors generally have a focus on a particular part of the software quality process (for example, cloud, load/stress or functional automation). Look to this segment for the best chance to find disruptive innovation or support for new technologies, but recognize that the products may not be as polished and that the vendors, at times, will be stressed to support global enterprises because their sales teams and partnerships are less mature."

That said, we at Telerik would first like to take a moment to thank YOU, our loyal customers, partners and community. Without you driving us forward with your thoughtful feedback and ideas, we would not be where we are today.

So, where are we today?

Over the last year, the Test Studio team has focused our efforts to stay ahead of the many market trends Gartner cites – from increased adoption of agile development techniques to the accelerated pace of mobile computing. Four trends in particular are driving many of the Telerik Testing team development priorities:

  • Mobile: Mobile development is on the rise, and businesses are struggling to keep up. Telerik Mobile Testing offers a functional testing solution for web, hybrid and native apps running on any device (Android/ iOS/ Windows Phone). The tests are authored in JavaScript, and can be run locally using our Web UI or via our Command Line Interface. Go try Telerik Mobile Testing, it’s free.

  • Agile techniques: The growth of agile development practices continues yet the majority of tools in the market are still built around the traditional models of development. Test Studio provides an important component of automation in the agile equation--it enables both developers and test teams to collaborate on a common platform to seamlessly collect project and test data that can increase responsiveness to the speed and flexibility of agile techniques.

  • Constant technology updates: New technologies evolve quickly; browsers and mobile OS’s get frequently updated. All of this forces providers to move quickly and release product updates regularly. The Telerik testing team is committed to keeping Test Studio as a future-ready solution. With three major releases a year and weekly public internal build releases; customer feature requests and enhancements are available with a faster than average turnaround.

  • Application development lifecycle management (ADLM): According to Gartner, “the drive for improved productivity demands solutions that automate workflow and enable collaboration among team members… ADLM integration is especially important for teams moving to agile, because these help to break down the traditional silos between developers and testers.” Telerik offers a set of solutions that are designed to work great alone but even better together. Combine Telerik AppFeedback and Mobile Testing to gather and directly integrate customer feedback into the mobile development process. Use Test Studio and TeamPulse, the Telerik agile project management system to improve collaboration, get better visibility into project status and improve the task prioritization practices on your testing team.
