Quick Reference Guide for Telerik Support

Tuesday, September 15, 2009 by Robert Shoemate | Comments 4
In my time here at Telerik, I’ve discovered supporting our customers is something that we take great pride in. This has lead us to create a vast number of support options, some of which are easily noticeable and accessible and some which are less obvious. That is why, this week, I would like to take a time out from writing code to provide you with some information about our various support options.

Product Support Pages (http://www.telerik.com/support.aspx)

General support is quickly accessible through the Telerik website by clicking on the support tab. Here you will be able to easily navigate through the various product support pages. Each page contains quick links to resources contained within the all of the support options described here.

Product Documentation (http://www.telerik.com/support/documentation-and-tutorials.aspx)

Documentation is installed with each of our products. Our documentation typically includes installation information, quick examples specific to each control, and an overall API reference. This is the best place to start if you need to quickly reference information about a control or it’s API.

Product Documentation is available online (see above link) or you can access it locally through the start menu on your computer by browsing to the product folders located at, Start –> All Programs –> Telerik –> …, and selecting their documentation shortcuts.

For example, the RadControls for WinForms Documentation is located at:

Start –> All Programs –> Telerik –> RadControls for WinForms –> Documentation

Sample Applications (Includes Source Code) (http://www.telerik.com/support/demos.aspx)

Sample applications that include source code are also installed with each of our products. These sample applications highlight the various features of our controls. If you need a quick coding example for a scenario you have encountered in making your own application, this is a good place to start.

Sample Applications are available online in some cases (see above link) and are also accessible through the start menu on your computer. You can access them by browsing to the product folders located at, Start –> All Programs –> Telerik –> …, and selecting the product’s corresponding demo program or Visual Studio solution.

Telerik TV (http://tv.telerik.com/)

Telerik TV is the primary source for videos related to Telerik products. Product introductions, tutorials, and recorded webinars can all be found here. If you don’t have time to watch the videos online, they can be downloaded locally to your computer for watching or referencing whenever you need them.

Telerik Blogs (http://blogs.telerik.com/)

The Telerik employee blogs are a great place to look for tips and tricks available directly from the members of the various product development teams. Anything from simple performance enhancement suggestions to overall application architecture ideas can be found here.

Forums (http://www.telerik.com/forums)

When you have an obscure question about something, or if you have been searching the web for hours to no avail, the forums are the perfect place to ask your question. Members of the community commonly get involved on our forums, helping each other come to solutions about common problems. Members of the Telerik support team and development teams also commonly frequent here. If you do visit the forums to ask a question, I suggest possibly saving yourself some time by doing a quick search query first, as your question may have already been answered in a past forum post.

Knowledge Base (http://www.telerik.com/support/kb.aspx)

The knowledge base contains a variety of articles and coding examples specific to each of the Telerik products. This is a good place to look for more specific examples than those provided with the sample applications.

Code Library (http://www.telerik.com/community/code-library.aspx)

The code library is a place for members of the community to exchange code samples and share knowledge about Telerik products. If the sample applications and knowledge base did not contain the example you were looking for, you might find it here.

Webinars (http://www.telerik.com/consulting/webinar.aspx)

Available free of charge, Telerik Webinars allow you to get up to speed on the latest and greatest features of the Telerik products by learning directly from an expert. At the end of each live session you can ask any questions you may have.

Support Tickets (http://www.telerik.com/account/support-tickets.aspx)

If you are having problems getting any of the Telerik controls or APIs to work the way you would like and you’ve exhausted every last resource, submitting a support ticket may be the way to go. Support tickets go directly to the support team and are answered in a timely manner.

Telerik Trainer (http://www.telerik.com/support/trainer.aspx)

Telerik Trainer is a tool that leverages the latest technologies to combine video training with hands on coding and self-paced tutorials. The Telerik Trainer guides you through coding examples by combining source code in Visual Studio with synchronized video highlights. This is a great resource if you want to learn how to use our products through interactive videos at your own pace.

Product Resource Pages (Learning Guides, Whitepapers)

Many of our products have corresponding Step-by-Step learning guides. These guides are actually full books in PDF format created to help you more easily learn how to use our tools. The guide for the product you are using can be found by browsing to that product’s Product Resource Page. Access a product resource page through our website by clicking the dropdown button on the Products tab then selecting the corresponding product. If the product has a resource page, you will see a resource tab that you can click to take you to it. Also available on the resource pages are white papers detailing product features.

Quickly access the resource pages by using the following links:
RadControls for ASP.Net AJAX (http://www.telerik.com/products/aspnet-ajax/resources.aspx)

    Hello Hitesh,

This blog entry is about the available support options provided by Telerik. The best place to post your ASP.NET AJAX related questions would probably be in the related forum. You can access the forum at the following link:

    Hello Team,

I have installed DNN 5.6 community version. I have also installed telerik. But when i am using telerik control to my ascx page, it displays following error:

Error      102         Could not load file or assembly 'Telerik.Web.UI, Version=2010.2.929.35, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=121fae78165ba3d4' or one of its dependencies. The located assembly's manifest definition does not match the assembly reference. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80131040)

Let me know how to fix this issue.

We plan to use Telerik Asp.net Ajax RadControls  on DNN 5.6 Community Edition. We are currently testing the controls. Rad controls has been successfully installed on VS2008 in localhost environment. We are running into issues when using the controls as the DNN bin folder already has a Telerik.Web.UI.dll file with a version 2010.2.929.35 which is higher than the Telerik version of 2010.2.826.35.

When we put any telerik control in on a web form or ascx file, it displays following error as below. Pls advise

PS: I have looked at your forums and do not see any resolution for the above issue.
