One of the features demoed in the videos was the ability to get a hierarchical view on the task board by selecting Parent Work Item for the Group By and defining parent/child work item types. I don't have the "Parent Work Item" option in my drop down list. I'm using the EMS scrum template. Did I miss a set-up step?
Unfortunately, that video is a little out of date. At one point there was a "Parent Work Item" option in the group by list, but for performance reasons we had to change how the child/related work items got displayed. Now if you want to view the child/related work items you need to hover your mouse over a sticky note and click on the link icon. The related work items will then be displayed in their own separate task board.
I'm a fan of your Work Item Manager but unfortunately without the "Parent Work Item" view in the taskboard the taskboard itself is very hard to read for us. So could you tell me, is it planned to have the Parent Work-Item View again directly on the taskboard?
Thanx for your reply
Hello Reinhard Decker,
Displaying parent work items is a feature that we would like to add back into the product. Currently, we plan to re-visit this issue when we fully add TFS 2010 support to WIM and Dashboard. We are hopeful that the Link Types features of TFS 2010 will help us accomplish this without the big hit to preformance that we saw with TFS 2008.
Thanks for the interest,
I really need the Parent Work Item. The manager is very hard to use without the SBI & SBI view.
When this feature will be added in the Work Item Manager ?
Sorry, this feature has not yet been scheduled for development, so I cannot say when it will be added to WIM. Thanks for the feedback!

Our team have looked at the Telerik taskboard and it looks very good. One of the features we really miss is the parent work item. I hope this feature will be added soon.
I also miss the Parent Item relashionship in the presentation of the Task Board. It gives you the possibility to get a better overview of the complete taskboard.
This is a huge missing feature. The task board is a non-starter without integrated support for parent-item display on the Task Board. this is a key relationship for the task board. Basically, the task board feature is useless.
