Award-winning development tools provider delivers purpose-built UI suite for latest edition of Microsoft mobile platform
Waltham, MA, October 28, 2010 – Telerik, a leading provider of development tools and solutions for the Microsoft® .NET platform, today unveiled its Community Technology Preview (CTP) of RadControls for Windows® Phone, an integrated suite of purpose-built UI components for the Microsoft mobile platform. The suite further extends the reach of Telerik’s award-winning RadControls product line, which addresses a wide range of technologies including Microsoft ASP.NET AJAX, MVC, Silverlight, WinForms, and WPF, and marks the company’s move into the mobile applications space.
“The introduction of Windows Phone 7 represents a major opportunity for our customers to apply their .NET skills and Telerik product expertise to the mobile development arena. Developers seeking to capitalize on this new market need professional UI components enabling them to quickly deliver reliable, market-ready apps,” said Svetozar Georgiev, Telerik CEO. “Our entry into mobile means developers will have Telerik’s proven, market-leading tools and technologies available to help them get the job done.”
“Windows Phone Developer Tools enable developers to quickly and easily bring their creativity to life on Windows Phone 7,” said Brandon Watson, director, Windows Phone, Microsoft Corp. “Companies such as Telerik play a valuable role in extending the potential of our mobile platform to enable even greater innovation,” he continued.
Telerik leveraged its near decade of experience in UI component development for Microsoft technologies and platforms to create an array of super-light, blazing-fast RadControls for its Windows Phone suite. The CTP, which integrates seamlessly with Windows Phone Tools for Visual Studio, features controls that have been optimized for the new Windows Phone rendering model. Drawing on the platform’s GPU hardware acceleration, RadControls facilitates faster, smoother, and more powerful transitions running directly on the device hardware, yet are precisely calibrated for optimal battery life management. The company has also announced planned support for additional controls and technologies, such as multi-touch interaction and deeper integration with Windows Phone OS features.
There are currently more than ten components available as part of the RadControls for Windows Phone CTP, including:
“Application developers have come to expect the highest level of quality and performance from Telerik and RadControls,” said Svetozar Georgiev, Telerik CEO. “RadControls for Windows Phone squarely meets those expectations and makes good on our promise to deliver only best-of-breed products reinforced by industry-leading support.”
RadControls for Windows® Phone is targeted for beta release in November 2010, with the commercial release set for Q1 2011. For more information about RadControls for Windows Phone or Telerik, please visit www.telerik.com/windows-phone.
