Newton, MA, June 1, 2009 – Telerik is pleased to announce the immediate availability of Telerik Sales Dashboard, a demo application showcasing the industry’s only cross-platform user interface (UI) components, RadControls for Silverlight and RadControls for WPF, which represent almost identical toolsets for building rich line-of-business web and desktop applications. RadControls for Silverlight and RadControls for WPF are derived from the same codebase and share a common API, enabling near complete code reuse between WPF and Silverlight applications. This simplifies future-proof development work created in either model.
“We decided to adopt this strategy when developing RadControls for Silverlight and RadControls for WPF to maximize our customers’ and their end-users’ Return-on-Experience,” says Nikolay Atanassov, Silverlight Teams Unit Manager at Telerik. “On one hand, the common web and desktop API enables developers to easily reuse code in both environments, maximizing the value of their experience and knowledge. On the other hand, the rich data visualization capabilities of both suites maximize the value of the end-users’ experience.”
Telerik Dashboard represents an interface used to monitor sales representatives’ performance. It demonstrates a best-practice approach for structuring a large-scale enterprise application that has a single business-logic layer shared by two different presentation layers: a desktop version, built on WPF, and a web version, built on Silverlight, where both the desktop and web versions of the application, have an identical user interface. By enabling extensive code reuse between WPF and Silverlight components combined with their powerful capabilities, RadControls for Silverlight and RadControls for WPF render developers more productive because they can roll out their web and desktop applications faster.
In addition, Telerik Dashboard is also a showcase of the new Microsoft Composite Client Application Guidance (code-named “Prism”), designed to help developers more easily build WPF and Silverlight applications, and shows how to build modular WPF and Silverlight applications with clearly separated logical and presentational layers.
